Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress who has gained fame for her role in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. The actress began her career in the 80s before coming to prominence with her performance in the Tezaab film, in which she appeared with an established actor Anil Kapoor. In the next film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared as well. As a young girl growing up in the middle class of Mumbai, she learned to dance. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, but most of her early movies failed. Eventually she became one the biggest actresses of Indian films. In the aftermath of her wedding ceremony, she took a short time off from her acting career until she returned. Recenty, she had an important part in Gulaab Gang. The film was about struggles faced by women in India. Dixit has been nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she was awarded eight. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honor in India. Her work in the field of social service is known to the world.
