Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston was able to place Angelica Hale on ECMO assistance for lifesaving treatments. Her condition became severe and she had kidney failure and organ failure which did not heal. Her condition forced her to alter her daily routine around hemodialysis and later on peritoneal dialysate. After spending 80 consecutive days in hospital and a few days in the hospital, she was close to death, and then a lengthy recovery path. After nearly a year and half of dialysis Angelica was able to undergo the largest surgery she had ever undergone- her kidney transplant. Angelica's mom was the only one who could donate the kidney. Angelica as well as her mom underwent an organ transplant successfully on the 13th of September, 2013 at two fantastic hospitals located right next to each other - Emory University Hospital & Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston.
